This section of the exhibition features rare books and manuscripts that bear witness to the complexities of the European enterprise in the New World, particularly during the first two centuries of encounter. Included are selected works from the library´s rich collection of native manuscripts that provide insights into Amerindian perspectives under Spanish rule. The exhibit highlights the ways in which interpretations of these primary sources have changed in light of shifting social values and scholarly approaches.
