“Open your eyes widely, then let your eyelids close extremely slowly.”

Shapes in the natural world often repeat, or mirror each other, when compared on a larger or smaller scale. Human architecture often turns to nature for inspiration, so it is not surprising that these details seem architectural when we narrow our focus and step into their world.

In nature, as in the built world, structure and function are inseparable. But outside of the context of function, we can examine them as naturally-occurring compositions.
