On the evening of Friday, February 8, 2019, The Latin American Library at Tulane University hosted an exhibit opening and reception for “Amazônia Ocupada,” featuring a conversation between photographer João Farkas and professor Christopher Dunn. Over 150 people attended the event, ranging from Tulane undergraduates and Loyola professors to folks from the New Orleans Brazilian community. All of the exhibit curators were present (Hortensia Calvo, Christine Hernández, Rachel Stein, Christopher Dunn, Felipe Cruz, and João Farkas), as well as staff members of The Latin American Library (Madeline White, Verónica Sánchez, and Sara Kittleson) and the Dean of Howard-Tilton Memorial Library (David Banush).
